Closed 28 Feb 2020

Opened 1 Feb 2020

Overview

We are proposing to make changes to the all age travel assistance policy. The policy describes the transport provision and assistance that will be made available, who will be able to apply for it and the circumstances in which it will be available.

The policy covers:

·  Home to school transport - for pre-school and school age children 2 to 16 years.

·  Post 16 travel assistance for education and training - for young people 16 to 19 years (or up to 25 with an education, health and care plan) who started their course before their 19th birthday.

·  Travel assistance for vulnerable adults age 18 and over with assessed care and support needs, and for adult learners who started a course after their 19th birthday.

We are committed to reviewing the policy each year and consulting on any proposed changes. The changes we are proposing would be for travel assistance from 1 September 2020.

Proposed changes

This is a summary of the proposed changes:

1.    Improved wording and layout so it is easier to understand.

2.    To remove the charges for post 16 travel assistance.

3.    To improve the appeal process for post 16 travel assistance.
