Crossford Bridge - Site Improvements

Closed 31 Oct 2021

Opened 11 Oct 2021

Overview

Trafford Council continues to work in partnership with the Crossford Bridge Management Association (CBMA) to improve and enhance the playing facilities at Crossford Bridge in Sale.

The CBMA are keen to look at the possibility of installing a full sized all-weather 3G football pitch on the site, a facility that will improve opportunities to be active in the borough. The Council is currently discussing this proposal with the CBMA and the Football Foundation and we are now seeking the views of local residents and stakeholders.

The proposal is to locate the all-weather 3G pitch, including perimeter fencing, at the top of the site near the M60 motorway on the pitch currently used by Old Altrinchamians FC. This is the point furthest away from residents’ homes, with trees providing natural screening.

The Council are also seeking to protect the site through a Fields in Trust ‘Deed of Dedication' more information on this can be found here Home | Fields in Trust, and will also be providing CBMA with a long term lease for the site.

The consultation will run from the 11th – 31st October 2021. Later in the year the Council will also organise a further window of consultation, at this stage the Council will have more detailed plans of what the facility will look like and where it will be positioned.

What happens next

This consultation is now closed. The feedback received will be analysed and inform detailed plans to be presented at a further window of consultation later in the year.
