Call for Sites

Closes 12 Jun 2025

Opened 24 Apr 2025

Overview

The Local Plan will make site specific allocations for housing, employment and green spaces.  As part of the draft Local Plan consultation the Council is inviting submission of any sites you wish to be considered for development, protection or for some other purpose within Trafford.  Each submission will be assessed in terms of its ‘fit’ with the Local Plan and against site selection criteria, which may lead to the site being proposed for allocation.

Submissions are invited from 24 April 2025 until 23:59 on 12 June 2025. Only in exceptional circumstances will the submission of sites be accepted after this period.

The ‘Call for Sites’ does not determine how much new development is needed, or whether a site will be allocated for a particular use in the Local Plan. It is an opportunity for anyone to suggest sites that they would like to be considered for allocation or protection in the Local Plan.

Guidelines

  •  To submit a site, you must provide:
    • a completed Call for Sites submission form (this Online Survey) for each site to be submitted
    • A site location plan, based on an up-to-date map (preferably Ordnance Survey at a scale of 1:1250 or 1:2500), showing the direction of north. This plan should clearly show the site boundary outlined in red and wherever possible, show at least two named roads to ensure the exact location of the submission site is clear. Please upload this document as part of your submission in Section 4 of this survey.
    • The red edge site boundary as a Geographic Information System (GIS) file, if available. Please upload this file as part of your submission in Section 4 of this survey.
  • If there is more than one landowner, please ensure the land ownership boundaries are clearly defined on the map and provide confirmation that each landowner is in agreement of the consideration regarding the land for the proposed use.
  • If the site is to be considered in conjunction with other sites to form a larger development area, please ensure details are clearly provided within the form.
