Overview

Trafford Council invites you to make comments on the content and policies of the draft Trafford Local Plan. Comments are invited from 24 April 2025 until 23:59 on 12 June 2025.  

The Trafford Local Plan, alongside PfE, will be the key land use planning document for Trafford, forming part of the Development Plan. It will guide the day-to-day decisions on planning applications and strategic planning and development in Trafford up to 2042.

The consultation includes the following documents: 

  • Trafford Local Plan Regulation 18 Consultation Draft - Policies (April 2025) 

  • Integrated Assessment (IA) Report and Policies Assessment, including:
    • Sustainability Appraisal
    • Equalities Impact Assessment
    • Health Impact Assessment
  • Integrated Assessment (IA) Scoping Report update 
  • Climate Change Risk Assessment (CCRA) 
  • Habitats Regulations Assessment (HRA) 
  • Site Selection Methodology

Call for Sites 

The Council is also undertaking a Call for Sites exercise, inviting people to put forward any sites to be considered for development, protection or for some other purpose within Trafford. To submit a site, a Call for Sites submission form should be completed.

Please note all comments will be held by the Council and will be available to view publicly. Comments cannot be treated as confidential. Your personal information such as your postal and e-mail address will not be published, but your name and organisation (if relevant) will. 

Trafford Council maintains a database of consultees who wish to be kept informed about planning policy matters such as the Local Plan.  In responding to this consultation your contact details will automatically be added to the consultation database (if not already held).  However, the Council will not automatically notify you of future consultations unless you ‘opt in’ on your consultation response. If you do not state you want to be on the consultation database, it will be assumed that you do not wish to be notified of future consultations.
